Motivated staff with the right capabilities is the core resource of any organisation.  The Growth and Employment Platform has in BSU Phase I (2011-2013) strenghtened partner universities within:

• Training-of-trainers in PhD supervision
• Training-of-trainers in Fund Raising and Proposal Writing

To build institutional capacity and not on only individual capacity these staff upgrading activities is run following a Training of Trainers model. There a small number of outstanding staff members are upgraded with international support to become champions and "trainers" of their peers, thereby institutionalising the capacity to perform staff development within the partner university.
